Founded in 1985 as a local diamond business, Jewel Africa has grown into a family run business spanning three generations of gemological knowledge and expertise. With decades of experience in diamonds, gemstones and fine jewellery, our team brings a deep understanding of natural stones, from sourcing and selection through to cutting, grading and craftsmanship.
Over the years, Jewel Africa has developed a reputation for its exceptional collection of natural diamonds, Tanzanite, African gemstones and fine jewellery. Our knowledge is built on generations of experience within the jewellery industry, combining technical expertise with a genuine appreciation for the character, rarity and natural beauty of each stone.
In 2000, Jewel Africa opened its first Cape Town space, creating an intimate setting where visitors could discover African jewellery and benefit from generations of knowledge and experience. Today, our Green Point showroom continues that tradition, offering an authentic African experience built on trusted expertise, carefully selected gemstones and a genuine connection to the continent.

We design and manufacture our own jewellery from the source to the finished product. Witness the process as our craftspeople create our jewellery from CAD design through to manufacture, polishing and final setting. TIM WATSON
South African gemmologist Tim Watson brings 40 years of expertise in diamonds, gemstones and jewellery, backed by his Gem-A fellowship and experience across leading international trading centres. His passion lies in rare precious gemstones and fancy coloured diamonds, alongside a distinguished career in the South African jewellery industry.
TAZ WATSON
Taz Watson represents the third generation of her family’s jewellery legacy, bringing a distinctive design perspective shaped by a deep love of gemstones, colour and craftsmanship. Her work transforms diamonds and vibrant gemstones into considered, modern heirlooms that carry meaning, individuality and stories to be treasured for generations.
