A LEGACY OF AFRICAN JEWELLERY
Founded in 1985 as a local diamond business, Jewel Africa has grown into a family run business spanning three generations of gemological expertise. With deep knowledge in diamond and gemstone cutting and grading, our story is rooted in the African jewellery industry.
In 2000, Jewel Africa opened its first Cape Town space, creating an intimate setting where visitors could discover African jewellery and benefit from generations of knowledge, expertise and passion for exceptional gemstones and diamonds.
Today, our Green Point showroom continues that tradition, bringing together natural diamonds, tanzanite, coloured gemstones and fine jewellery, backed by three generations of family expertise and a genuine connection to Africa.

NATURAL DIAMONDS
Natural diamonds have been part of the Jewel Africa story from the beginning. Formed deep within the earth over extraordinary periods of time, every natural diamond carries its own individual characteristics and history.
Our collection celebrates diamonds in a variety of forms, from classic colourless stones to diamonds displaying warmer natural shades. Each is selected with an appreciation for its individual beauty and the way it works within the finished piece.

TANZANITE
Tanzanite is one of Africa's most remarkable gemstones, found in only one small area of northern Tanzania near the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. We are directly involved in purchasing Tanzanite from its source, giving us a close connection to the stone and its origins.
Admired for its distinctive blue and violet hues, tanzanite can reveal different tones as it moves through the light. This natural character, together with its extraordinary geographic origin, has made it one of the gemstones most closely associated with East Africa.
Our tanzanite collection brings the stone into both classic and contemporary jewellery, allowing its colour and natural character to remain at the centre of each design, with every stone carrying a connection to its African origin.

CREATED IN CAPE TOWN
Behind the finished jewellery is a process that combines design, technology and traditional bench craftsmanship. Our Cape Town manufacturing workshop allows jewellery to move from an initial idea through the different stages required to bring the finished piece to life.
Depending on the design, this may include CAD development, manufacture, stone setting, polishing and final finishing, with careful attention given to the piece throughout the process.
Our manufacturing capabilities also allow us to offer bespoke jewellery, giving clients the opportunity to create something around a particular gemstone, idea, occasion or personal story.
PRECISION IN EVERY PIECE
Fine jewellery is often defined by the details that are not immediately obvious. Proportion, stone placement, setting, surface finish and polish all contribute to how a piece ultimately looks, feels and wears.
Each stage requires care and precision, particularly when working with valuable natural diamonds and coloured gemstones. It is this attention to the smaller details that helps create jewellery that feels considered rather than simply decorative.
